According to reports, P Devakanta from Manipur has found 165 types of wild rice. Devakanta, president of All Manipur Trained Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Promoters Consortium, started growing four varieties of traditional paddy at his home in Imphal five years ago. Reportedly, Devakanta experiments with his finds in his paddy field at his village Potsangbam in Imphal. He claimed that the tests with the yield of traditional varieties were positive.
