Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam is yet another film that talks about a tug-of-war between love and family, what to choose when faced with a choice and who will compromise, or would there be a mutual understanding. It’s a South Indian concept that’s been on for decades and the formula might go on for a long time.
A boy meets a girl, falls in love and doesn’t mind going to any extent get his love. The girl on the other hand, looks so dumb. Her characterization isn’t as great as she is one of the most confused souls. She behaves differently when she is around with her family but when alone, she becomes dumb. More convincing characterization could have made the overall treatment better.

In most love stories, the girl’s parents would be against their daughter’s love for no reason but here they have family backstory that comes in as a bottleneck. Well, apart from that, the story is pretty common over beaten tale. Sometimes even overbeaten love stories work as long as the screenplay is fresh. When it comes to Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam, the first half is relatively fresh with few enjoyable scenes here and there whereas the 2nd half is flat and boring.
What Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam has in addition to the routine love story is some good old style family scenes which are shot sensibly in the first half. It might not be wrong to say that their relationship enjoys more focus in the movie, especially in the first half.
Naga Chaitanya has done well, especially in scenes where he cuts loose and let’s pent up feelings and thoughts blow out during the breakup scene which happens to be one of the high points in the film. Rakul Preet Singh has no trouble being the bubbly young girl, but the innocence in her character could annoy a few people.
Supporting actors like Posani Krishna Murali, Prithviraj, Sapthagiri and other comedians light up a few scenes with their comic acts. Most of them have separate intro scenes but no scenes after that. Vennela Kishore is one actor who travels throughout the film but does not make a significant mark in spite of adequate screen time. Sampath as Rakul Preet’s father plays a loving father, something different from his usual roles. Other cast members have also done their part well.
Devi Sri Prasad and Vishweshwar have been the pillars of the film with their music and camera work. The songs are already popular among the audience and they are better with the visuals.
Overall, Rarandoi Vedukka Chuddam is a movie that could impress you at parts majorly in the first half. The screenplay drags a lot in the latter half and few scenes could have been trimmed.
Verdict: Another usual family love story that offers nothing new
